Tennis

Tennis In the tennis world the three ATP Tournaments at Rotterdam, Memphis and Buenos Aires this week are well underway. There’s already been upsets in Rotterdam with fourth seed David Goffin losing his first match against Baghdatis on a third set tie break. Also, seventh seed Benoit Paire disappointing start to the season continued with a straight sets loss against experienced qualifier Ivan Dodig. Apart from that all the big stars and seeded players are alive, but its early days and a busy time of the year so there’s sure to be a few more upsets along the way. In fact top seed Richard Gasquet could be one of the vulnerable players this week at short odds in match markets and is unlikely to win or make the final, as he won the tournament at Montpellier last week and deep down his motivation has to be questioned with bank balance swelled further. The same applies to fifth seed Roberta Bautista Agut who’s had an amazing start to the season after a poor 2015, winning titles at Auckland and Sofia last week. Winning the title or reaching a final in such a short period of time is unlikely this week and he is another player along with Gasquet worth opposing in the match markets this week. He faces Portugal’s Joao Sousa in his first match today and Sousa is definitely comfortable on the European indoor courts having already won two titles and made two finals in his career.
