Time for the National Hunt Season Programme To Be Revised?

Although we are currently in the middle of a cold snap, the overwhelming weather trend over the last three years has been for far greater rainfall between November and March.

This year has been by far the wettest in recent times and their has been precious little opportunity for good ground horses.

If this trend continues, consideration should be given in my view to extending the National Hunt Season till the end of May and rescheduling the festivals;

Cheltenham - last week of March

Aintree - mid April

Ayr - End of April

Punchestown - Mid May

Sandown - End of May

The Guineas meetings could be set back by 2 weeks to avoid a clash with Sandown.

Food for thought
