2016 FA Cup winners Manchester United lifted their first silverware of the season yesterday beating last season’s Premier League champions Leicester 2-1 in the Community Shield, thanks to goals from Lingard and new signing Ibrahimovic. United are also on the verge of signing Pogba from Juventus and if they manage to get their man, more silverware is sure to follow this season.

Yesterday’s Championship action rounded off an exciting goal laden weekend of English League football. QPR and new manager Gary Monk got their campaign off to a winning start thrashing Leeds 3-0 while Sheffield Wednesday provided Aston Villa with a stark reminder of how tough life will be in the Championship this season winning 1-0.
