Christiano Ronaldo confirmed his status as the best player on the planet last night bagging a hat-trick for Real Madrid in their first leg semi-final Champions League win against city rivals Atletico at the Bernabeu. The match ended 3-0 and Atletico rarely threatened in the match, were disappointing to say the least and have it all to do in the return leg at the Vicente Calderon next Wednesday.

Tonight’s other Champions League first leg semi-final between Monaco and Juventus at the Stade Louis II should be a highly entertaining affair with both teams in sparkling form at present. Juventus have arguably the best defence in the competition, which they proved against Barcelona over two legs, and I don’t see them losing tonight possibly coming away with a draw or narrow win.
