WE START A BI WEEKLY GOLF BLOG TODAY
My stratergy on golf is to try and avoid the favs,if they win good luck but there are some great players available at big odds it breaks my heart not to bet J Rahm and K Kisner 2 players destined for great things but odds too short and Kisner surely tired after his near miss last week not to mention he missed a days practice due to play off carried over to last Monday!! I also bet more players to win than less ew but up to you.
Normally we should have a couple of players at least contending on sunday so hopefully if you wish you can lay off for profit or cash in?? So at the prices below I suggest £10 to win and all being well we can have an exciting sat eve watching on sky!! This week's main golfing action is on the PGA Tour in the US, it's the WELLS FARGO CHAMPIONSHIP. Here's a preview of the action... The Tournament - A relatively new feature on the schedule, this tournament was first staged in 2003 when it started out as the Wachovia Championship before taking its current, more famous, name in 2011. And as you can expect from its lack of history, it's not an event which attracts the strongest of fields but it does boast past champions in Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy (twice) and this year has the world No.1 Dustin Johnson in the line-up. The Course - After a number of years at Quail Hollow, this year the tournament moves to Eagle Point Golf Club - but it stays in North Carolina, not far from Wilmington. This Tom Fazio designed layout was opened in 2000 and is a par 72 at 7,259 yards. It's reported by the pros who have visited and practiced here, to play like Augusta, home of the Masters, which Fazio also recently worked on. 72-Hole Record - 267, Rory McIlroy (2015) 18-Hole Record - n/a Past Winners - James Hahn (2016), Rory McIlroy (2015), J.B. Holmes (2014), Derek Ernst (2013), Rickie Fowler (2012). The Field - A regulation number this week for a PGA Tour event. Dustin Johnson is the 5/1 favourite. The Weather - All four days (especially Friday) might suffer from cloud and the chance of rain. But winds will be light and temperatures should be in the mid-70's. The Bookies - Most firms offer EW terms of 1/4 odds on 5 places. SJA, BFD & SKY payout on 6 places at 1/4 odds. WHL & BOY pay out on 6 places at 1/5 odds - worth noting for Scott. COR, PPW & LAD pay out on 7 places at 1/5 odds The Bets - B Harman BETFAIR 108/1 Brian was one of 4 players to to pay a 2 day visit to Eagle point a few weeks ago the others Swafford,English,Kizzire.
H Swafford betfair 69/1 unfortunatly tipped in racing post but an improving player who has confidence from recent victory career builder challenge.
H Varner betfair 178/1 victirious in Auistrailia 3 months ago his strength of the tee will make him a contender.
W Simpson 35/1 bet 365 unfortunately tipped by racing post so 40/1 price has gone but Webb has shown resurgence in form lately, his last victory in 2013 but hes a member at Eagle point and one of a few with course knowledge.
B Haas 40/1 bet 365 like Simpson a member at Eagle Point must surely go close.
L List 94/1 betfair one of the up and coming power players a winner waiting to happen.
K Tway 100/1 betfair missed the cut last time out by one shot also a member at eagle point so an advantage over most of the field.
JB Holmes - 60/1 BETFAIR "After a poor first day with partner Bubba Watson, the Holmes-Watson pairing played well to finish in a tie for 5th last week. Holmes won this event back in 2014 and although it was at a different venue, looking at this year's course, similar attributes will be key to success. Eagle Point looks like a course where the cream will rise to the top and Holmes is clearly one of the best teeing it up this week. Last week's result could just be the lift Holmes needed to find his best form again and he looks overpriced this week against a field short of big names."
Adam Scott - 18/1 BET 365 a class player just a matter of time intil hes back on the main table!! shorter odds than I normally go for but massive chance.
P Kizzire 168/1 betfair the last of the playersthat spent 2 days practising here a few weeks ago!!
