There was plenty of exciting action in the Carabao Cup last night and in addition to plenty of goals in the majority of games it was a good night for those who backed Premier League clubs, as six of the seven Premier League teams facing lower league opposition all progressed to the third round. Only Watford failing to do so at home against the impressive Bristol City who came from a goal down to win 3-1 on the night.

The Premier League clubs to progress were Crystal Palace who defeated Ipswich 2-1 at Selhurst Park, West Brom who knocked out Accrington Stanley 3-1 at the Crown Ground, Bournemouth who came from a goal down to knock out Birmingham City at St Andrews, Brighton who knocked out Barnet 1-0 at home, Swansea who made light work of MK Dons thrashing them 4-1 at the Stadium MK and last but not least Leicester City who continued their impressive start to the season thrashing Sheffield United 4-1 at Bramall Lane.

Other teams to impress on the night were Aston Villa who proved too strong for Wigan at Villa Park winning 4-1, Burton who knocked out high flying Cardiff 2-1 in Wales, League One Doncaster knocked out struggling Hull 2-0 at Keepmoat, League One Bristol Rovers knocked out Championship side Fulham 1-0 at Craven Cottage and finally Brentford shocked an in form QPR side at Loftus Road thrashing the home side 4-1.
