Golf

Two thrilling finishes on the Golf at the weekend where both winners tried to throw it away but managed to cling on for victory. Rickie Fowler will surely win a major in the next couple of years and it was nice to see Jason Dufner come back to some form, all bodes well for the USA in this year’s Ryder Cup and they will be tough to beat at home.

This week the European tour moves to Qatar and the Doha Golf Club where defending champion Branden Grace must go close after his fifth place last week in Abu Dhabi. This unique golf course suits his game and it looks sensible, when betting, to consider players who have played well here before. Grace is a worthy favourite but as I've said before, backing short priced golfers is not my cup of tea and I prefer to look at the bigger prices which includes Bernd Wiesberger, Soren Kjeldsen and Alejandro Canizares who all have some course form.

On the PGA Tour the action is in San Diego at The Farmers Insurance Open at Torrey Pines. Last year saw Jason Day lift the trophy after a 4 way play-off and the tournament is wide open again this year. Day is the current favourite but Fowler returns after his win and a strong field has assembled. At bigger prices don’t be surprised to see Harris English and Michael Thompson play well along with stalwarts Brandt Snedeker, Patrick Reed and Bill Haas.
