It was a thrilling finish in Arizona, with Hideki Matsuyama defeating Rickie Fowler on the fourth play - off hole after they had tied on 14 under. Harris English was back in third and showed he is in good form and our two picks Ryan Moore and Charles Howell were there after three rounds but faded to finish Tied 11th and 24th respectively. All three can win this season so don’t give up on them. In Dubai Danny Willett was the winner fending off Rafa Cabrera-Bello and Andy Sullivan with Wiesberger in 16th and Coetzee 26th. Both Willett and Sullivan have come on leaps and bounds and should make the Ryder Cup this year.
The European tour moves to South Africa and the Tshwane Open where George Coetzee defends his title. He was solid last week but on a course with good memories could take another leap forward and it’s not beyond him to win it again. Charl Schwartzel is favourite at 6/1 and it will be interesting to see how he plays after his break, if he is not ring rusty he will be tough to beat in this field. If you are betting it’s probably best to stay with the South Africans so look closely at Stone and Sterne as each way outsiders.
In the USA, the PGA tour goes to Pebble Beach for the AT&T and recent man of the moment Brandt Snedeker defends his title. This is a tough course and a tough ask for the pros as it is a pro/am event and the rounds can often drag on and tiredness creeps in. Apart fro, the obvious candidates for a win are Spieth, Day and Dustin Johnson with big priced outsiders to look at who play well here include Brendon Todd, Chesson Hadley and Pat Perez.
