Wins for Bubba and Marcus Fraser

Soo Min Lee threw away a golden opportunity with two late double bogeys pushing him down into second place and allowing Marcus Fraser to become the first ever winner of the Maybank Championship. If it doesn’t affect him too much, Lee will be challenging again soon as his play up until then had been superb. Australian Fraser moves on to Perth but it will be difficult for him to go back to back as he will surely have been celebrating and he might be worth chancing in the missed cut market.

In The States, Bubba Watson, mentioned well in this blog, held his nerve as Jason Kokrak faltered close home despite half the crowd seemingly being against him. Bubba doesn’t care, he plays his own style of golf and lives his own life and one thing is for sure, he will be focusing in on Augusta where he goes in search of a third green jacket. It seems to spur him on more and I wouldn’t bet against him winning again. Rory McIlroy is not far away from his best, another couple of tournaments and he will be about there but Spieth missed the cut and a busy last eighteen months might just be taking its toll.

The PGA tour moves across to Florida and The Honda Classic with Padraig Harrington looking to defend his victory of last year. The tournament often throws up a surprise winner so it may pay to look for bigger priced players who have played well here in the past. Two have good course form are Scotsman Russell Knox and the American George McNeill ad they are decent prices this week. Rory McIlroy is the favourite but he needs to put together four good rounds before you could back him at the sort of price he is here.

On the European tour we move to Perth in Australia and the ISPS Handa Perth International where Thorbjorn Olesen defends. That final leaderboard was dominated by Europeans and Aussies so that looks the way to go again. Richard Green, Alejandro Canizares and James Morrison are three who could go close.
