Tennis

Over in Indian Wells, California the ATP Masters Series is well underway and while there were no major shocks at the time of writing there have been a few surprises with three seeds crashing out against unseeded opposition at the first time of asking.

19th seed Benoit Paire was thrashed in straight sets by compatriot Adrian Mannarino, 23rd seed Grigor Dimitrov lost a nail biting three setter against rising young star Alexander Zverev and the hugely promising, but unpredictable Nick Kyrgios seeded 24, was humbled by journeyman Ramos-Vinolas in straight sets.

Second seed Andy Murray came through his first match against Granollers-Pujol in straight sets 6-4 7-6, but made hard work of the win and will need to step it up a level if he’s going to make the final this year.

Two of our fancies for this week Stan Wawrinka and Milos Raonic progressed to the third round in comfortable fashion and if you have not already backed Raonic I would definitely advise backing him now as he’s still available at 16/1 (1/2 odds).
