Brits Rule in Augusta

Danny Willett ended a 20year drought when winning the Augusta Masters last night in a dramatic final round.

Hot favourite Jordan Spieth seemed certain to win when opening up a five shot lead at the 9th hole after a string of birdies. However disaster was just around the corner and unbelievably Spieth posted a quadruple bogey 7 at the 12th.

Willett had been making steady progress up the leader board and was a clear second prior to Spieth's disaster- he grabbed the chance with both hands and went on to win by three shots.

The leaderboard was full of Brits with Lee Westwood, Paul Casey and Justin Rose finishing close up.

Watching events at the 12th unfold was like watching the Kevin Costner film Tin Cup as Spieth put his ball in the water not once but twice!

What a weekend for the bookmakers with a 33/1 winner in the Grand National and a 66/1 winner in the Masters with the favourite seeming sure to win both only to fade near the finish.
