Chris Sobey

A good start to the week for my tennis selections as three of the four selections from the 4-fold/Lucky-15 (Dodig, Cervantes and Edmunds) have already won, with just Carreno-Busta left to play Verdasco today. I also advised Illy Marchenko at 14/5 to beat Lucas Pouille and this match will also be played today.

From a tournament perspective our three selections are all still in action. Dzuhmur (14/1) at Istanbul is through to the second round while Simon (5/1) at Estoril and Kohlschreiber (10/1) at Munich get their campaigns underway today. Simon faces compatriot Henri-Mathieu and Mathieu leads the head-to-head 4-1, but his four wins came way back between 2005 -2008 all when he was ranked higher than Simon and at the top of his game.

Today’s encounter will no doubt be competitive as Mathieu has been playing well lately, but Simon has won 12 of his last 13 matches against fellow countrymen and he should prevail if he plays to his full potential.

Kohlschreiber also faces fellow-countrymen in qualifier Florian Mayer today. Mayer is a former top-20 player and is currently working his way back up the world rankings after a number of prolonged periods away from the ATP Tour due to injury.

The head-to-head currently stands at 2-all and Mayer won their last encounter on clay at Stuttgart back in 2010. While Mayer’s done well to qualify this week, he’s not beaten anyone of Kohlschreiber's standard since January 2014 and on current form it would be a major upset if he sent his compatriot packing today.
