Golf

We seem to have a new way of selecting Golf winners, tip them one week and then back them the next two or three weeks. Brooks Koepka and Sergio Garcia were both mentioned on the blog over the last few weeks and were this weekend involved in a play-off that Garcia won. He has looked like winning recently and finally got his head in front. In Europe Rory showed why he is one of the best golfers ever by winning The Irish Open with two unbelievable shots on the last two holes when the pressure was really on. He has now found top form and if he can get his putter hot he will be challenging Jason Day and Jordan Spieth throughout the summer.

This week the European Tour moves on to the Wentworth Club in England for the BMW PGA Championship where the Korean Byeong Hun An will defend his surprise win last year. He had been playing reasonably well on the PGA tour but has missed the cut on three of his last four starts so looks a long shot again this year. The absence of Rory is a blow to the sponsors but there is still a world class field assembled. This tournament has the habit of throwing up a surprise winner, often from Europe so use that as the basis for your selecting.

In America it is the Dean and Deluca Invitational at Colonial Club in Fort Worth, Texas. Chris Kirk won this last year and with Jordan Spieth in the field this year, it will be tough going for the other players if he plays well. Three against the field are Danny Lee who played well last week and looks sure to win sooner rather than later, George McNeill and Jason Dufner who has shown glimpses of his best form.
