Dustin Johnson won the Bridgestone Invitational by one shot after Jason Day uncharacteristically slipped up down the stretch. It was Johnson's second win in as many events and his fourth consecutive top five finish. In this form he must be one of the favourites for the Open at Troon in two weeks. In France, Thongchai Jaidee easily won the French Open and is playing as well as anybody on the European tour at the moment. In Reno Greg Chalmers won that event helped by Gary Woodland completely messing up the 18th when in with a chance of winning.
This week we have the Scottish Open in Inverness where many of the Americans will warm up for Troon. Rickie Fowler won this last year at Gullane. I like the look of Patrick Reed who has been threatening to win something recently.
In America, New Zealander Danny Lee defends the Greenbrier Classic in what is one of the most beautiful parts of West Virginia. With a number of top players in the UK, this is a chance for some of the not so well known players to come to the fore as did Lee last year.
Next week we will have a good look at the British Open.
