This week’s ATP tennis action at Hamburg, Bstaad and Newport is now at the second round stage and three of my four outright selections Almagro (14/1) and Cuevas (10/3) at Hamburg and Ramos-Vinolas (9/1) are still in with a shout at reaching Sunday’s final. There were a number of first round shocks at Hamburg with second seed Paire (1.5) crashing out against Gimeno-Traver, fourth seed Zverev (1.21) lost in straight sets against Cervantes and fifth seed Chardy (1.26) also crashed out against Gonzalez.
There were no major shocks at Bstaad and seven of the eight seeds are still in action. At Newport there were no major first round shocks and all seven seeds are still in action. I’ve taken a close at today’s and tomorrow’s second round matches and Medvedev, Donskoy and Granollers should prove too good for their respective second round opponents and the three can be backed in a Treble or Patent at about 7/2.
