The ongoing farce that is England’s governing football body the FA hit another new low yesterday when it was revealed they had terminated England manager Sam Allardyce’s job after only one match and 67 day’s in charge due to gross misconduct.

Allardyce was targeted in a Daily Telegraph investigation into alleged corruption in English football, and the departure was announced following crisis talks involving FA chairman Greg Clarke and chief executive Martin Glenn yesterday.

England Under-21 boss Gareth Southgate will take charge of the senior side for the next four games in an interim capacity and it’s more than likely he will be a serious contender for the job proper, given his experience of the FA organisation during his time managing the England under 21 side and as a former England International.

It was a good night for English teams in the Champions League last night as Leicester maintained their lead at the top of Group G on six points after beating FC Porto 1-0 at the King Power Stadium and Spurs moved up to second on three points in Group E behind Monaco after beating CSKA Moscow 1-0 at the Arena Khimki.

It’s Arsenal and Manchester City’s turn tonight and both teams look more than capable of winning at a canter tonight against FC Basel and Celtic respectively. The straight forward match double result is definitely worth considering just short of even money, but if you are looking for a better return the Match Result and Over 2.5 Goals Double market double at just over 5/2 is also worth considering as both matches are likely to feature plenty of goals given the attacking talent at both English teams disposal.
