England’s struggles continued as they failed to beat minnows Slovenia in last night’s Euro Zone World Cup qualifying drawing 0-0 at the Stadion Stožice in Ljubljana. The draw meant England stayed top of Group F on eight points, but only by goal difference now after Lithuania beat Malta 2-0, which puts them level on eight points with England. Slovakia went third in Group F after beating Scotland 3-0 and judging by their results so far it looks like Scotland will have their work cut out to qualify for a major tournament again.
Germany stayed top of Group C after comfortably beating Northern Ireland 2-0 at the HDI-Arena in Hanover and Northern Ireland are third behind Azerbaijan. Wales sit third in Group D behind the Republic of Ireland in second. The final set of Euro Zone World Cup qualifying group stage matches for 2016 take place between Friday 11th and Sunday 13th November and from a home nations perspective all eyes will be on England and Scotland’s Group F encounter at Wembley on Friday 11th.
