The ATP Tennis season came to a close yesterday, and it could not have been more of a fitting end with Murray and Djokovic battling it out for the accolade of ending the year as the number one player in the world in the final of the World Tour Finals in London. Andy Murray produced one of the best performances of his career to defeat Djokovic 6-3 6-4 in the final and added the World Tour finals, and more importantly the year end world number one ranking to his CV, for the first time in his career.
Not to be outdone brother Jamie was also crowned the number one doubles player on the ATP Tour with Bruno Soares, and it’s the first time two brothers have topped the ATP singles and doubles ranking at the same time, which is sure to become a famous quiz question when they both eventually retire.
Don’t forget to tune in next month when I will be providing a review of the 2016 season followed by a preview of next season, which will include my thoughts on some of the ante post markets and players to follow.
