Scotland got their Six Nations campaign off to the best possible start beating Ireland 27-22 at Murrayfield, but they had to survive a spirited second half comeback from the visitors after they lead 21-8 at the break. England were far less convincing in their opener against France at Twickenham, they did set a new national record with their 15th consecutive win, but it was a scrappy affair with only two tries that were both scored in the last 20 minutes of the match.
Wales got their Six Nations campaign off to a winning start beating Italy 33-6 at the Stadio Olimpico, Rome. The first half was a tight affair and Italy lead going in to the break thanks to the only try, but Wales eventually wore the resilient Italians down scoring three converted tries and three penalties.
