Sunderland’s Premier League survival hopes took another blow last night as they lost 2-0 against Leicester at the King Power while the Foxes moved one step closer to safety. Burnley also moved one step closer to Premier League safety thanks to a 1-0 home win against Stoke. Elsewhere, there were wins for Watford who defeated West Brom 2-0 at Vicarage Road while Manchester United were extremely fortunate to secure a point at Old Trafford against Everton as there equaliser came via a penalty awarded in the 94th minute.

The Premier League action continues tonight with six games and the highlights are leaders Chelsea facing fourth place Manchester City at Stamford Bridge. The blues don’t have a great record in this corresponding fixture; they have only won four of the last ten in all competitions at Stamford Bridge and they could be in for a tough night, and if they do fail to win they could find their lead at the top reduced even further if Spurs manage to beat Swansea at the Liberty Stadium.

In the Championship Brighton went two points clear of Newcastle at the top thanks to a 3-1 home win against Birmingham while Reading moved up to third ahead of Huddersfield thanks to a 3-1 home win against Blackburn, who remain third from bottom in the relegation places. Newcastle and Huddersfield will get the chance to regain top spot and third tonight against Burton and Norwich respectively and with Burton only losing one of their last eight league home and away games and with all the pressure on Newcastle in front of their home fans I wouldn’t be steaming in to them at short odds.
