Although I couldn’t pick last week's 400/1 winner we still managed 5 points profit thanks to R Cabrero Bello winning top continental European at 20/1 with F Molinari placed at 7/1 and E Grillo placed for top ROW. Don’t forget I suggest win bets on tournament winner as I select up to 10 players usually at big odds rather than fewer each way!! but if I bet top UK,EUROPE ETC they will be each way!!
There are two tournaments this week, the BYRON NELSON CLASSIC on the PGA Tour and the ROCCO FORTE OPEN on the European Tour.
We'll start today with just the bets over in the States (player write-ups to follow), and come back to Europe tomorrow.
Here's a preview of the action in Texas...
The Tournament - Gets its name from the legendary American golfer, and 5-time Major winner, Byron Nelson... who also won the first staging of this tournament in 1944. Now one of the top-rated events away from the Majors and WGC tournaments, the Byron Nelson usually attracts its fair share of big names, although the roll of honour in recent years includes plenty of lesser known pros (Bowditch, Bae, Todd, Wetterich, Purdy).
The Course - It's the TPC at Las Colinas this week just north of Dallas, Texas. It's a par 70 layout stretching out over 7,166 yards that was designed by Jay Morrish [in consultation with Byron Nelson and Ben Crenshaw] and should prove a good test this week. Scoring though can be good, with scores in the last few years at 13-14-18 and 15-under-par.
72-Hole Record - 261, Rory Sabbatini (2009)
18-Hole Record - 60, Keegan Bradley (2013)
Past Winners - Sergio Garcia (2016), Steven Bowditch (2015), Sang-Moon Bae (2014), Brendan Todd (2013), Jason Dufner (2012).
The Field - Standard PGA Tour numbers this week with world No.1 Dustin Johnson the 5/1 favourite.
The Weather - There's rain, and possibly thunder, forecast for all four days this week (as we enter into storm season in the US). Temperatures in the high-70's but there's likely to be rain and some gusty winds for the players to contend with.
The Bookies - Most firms offer EW terms of 1/4 odds on 5 places. SJA, BFD, SKY pay out on 6 places at 1/4 odds . WHL & BOY pay out on 6 places at 1/5 odds. COR & PPW pay out on 7 places at 1/5 odds .
Here are the details...
