A truly amazing day for the Emerald Isle as Rekindling trained by Joseph O Brien led home an Irish 1-2-3 in the Melbourne Cup followed by his father's Thomas Vermeer and Willie Mullin's Max Dynamite who was placed for the second time.

So close to 27 for Aiden but he was over the moon at his son's win.
