This week’s ATP tennis action at the first Masters 1000 Series event of the 2018 season at Indian Wells is now well underway and by the time you read this article the full third round draw should be complete. There have already been a number of seeded players who bit the dust at the second-round stage and the highest profile of them was third-seed Dimitrov who lost against the experienced veteran Verdasco.

Chardy came from a set and a break down to defeat sixteenth-seed Fognini and Britain’s Kyle Edmunds seeded twenty-one, who was announced as the new British number one this week, failed to repeat his Australian Open form when he lost his opening match against veteran Sela in straight sets. The little known Argentine Kicker, came from a set down to knock-out twenty-sixth seed Dzumhur, the unseeded Fritz defeated fellow NextGen star Rublev, who was seeded twenty-seven, in straight sets and Herbert defeated twenty-fourth seed Muller in straight sets.

All three of my outright and Quarter winning selections Del Potro (12/1), Bautista Agut (9/2) and Schwartzman (5/1) were all still in action at the time of writing, as were some of the big guns like, top-seed and five-time Indian Wells winner Federer, second-seed Cilic, fourth-seed Zverev, fifth-seed Thiem, seventh-seed Anderson and tenth-seed and five time Indian Wells champion Djokovic.
