With the majority of the worlds best players either absent from the 2018 Indian Wells and Miami Masters 1000 Series due to injury or struggling to recapture their best form, it paved the way for more new winners of the tournaments and on this occasion it was the veterans of the ATP Tour who capitalised. Del Potro won his first Masters 1000 Series at Indian Wells and its great to see him starting to reach his true potential at last after such an injury ravaged career. John Isner, who was seeded fourteen at Miami and had come close to challenging for Masters 1000 Series in the past finally won a well overdue one on home soil and he did it the hard way as well coming from a set down to defeat world number four Alexander Zverev in a pulsating final that ended 6-7 6-4 6-4.

There’s no ATP action this week as the tour breaks for the Davis Cup again, which commences on Friday with the singles rubbers.
