Elliott Wins Thrilling Irish National
Half way up the run in in the Irish Grand National Yesterday, Willie Mullins must have been thinking that he had deposed Gordon Elliott at the head of the Irish trainers table.
Bellshill had led all the way and led after the last. One of his other runners Isleofhopeanddreams was finishing strongly into second place.
However, it was not to be as Gordon Elliott’s General Principle finished strongly and got up to win on the line.
This win virtually clinches the trainers title for Elliott:.
Elsewhere on the card, Getabird was hugely impressive in winning the opening Group 2.
