This weeks ATP tennis action at Marrakech and Houston is now down to the quarter-finals stage and it’s good to see four of my outright tournament selections still in with a shout of reaching the finals this weekend. At Marrakech top-seed Ramos-Vinolas and third seed Kohlschreiber crashed out at the first time of asking against Russian qualifier Vatutin and Algerian Wild Card Ouahab respectively, who are both ranked outside the top-100.
Andujar (advised 66/1) is through to the quarter-finals and hopefully his good recent form and more importantly experience, will prove enough to beat Vatutin today. Sousa (advised 16/1) is also through to the Marrakech quarter-finals and he faces Basilashvili for the first time today. If both Andujar and Sousa win they will face each other in Saturday’s semi-finals, which means we will be guaranteed one finalist. Second seed Edmunds has looked in solid form reaching the quarter-finals and he faces Jaziri for a place in the semi-finals today and the winner will face either Simon or fourth seed Gasquet who play their quarter-final today as well.
Over in Houston, USA, second-seed Querrey lost his opener against the talented Pella from Argentina and Pella faces one of my outright selections eighth seed Sandgren (advised 66/1) today for a place in the semi-finals. Sixth Seed Johnson (advised 25/1) is through to the quarter-finals and will face either top-seed Isner or Laaksonen and tournament favourite and fourth seed Kyrgios is also through to the quarter-finals and he faces veteran Karlovic who is still going strong at the age of 39! At the time of writing third seed Sock and seventh seed Harrison were set to face Zeballos and Fritz for a place in the quarter-finals. If you have backed all of my outright selections you may wish to consider hedging your bets by at least covering your outright stakes, as the players have to win two potentially tough matches still.
