England miserable run in test matches continued last week after they were trounced in the first test against Pakistan at Lords. The top of the England batting order had no answer to Pakistan’s devastating bowling attack, and only captain Root was able to restore some pride in the second innings scoring 68. The opening bowlers, veterans Anderson and Broad couldn’t capitalise on favourable home conditions, and England’s overall bowling attack it’s fair to say were toothless for the majority of the test match. This lead to former England captain Michael Vaughan calling for them to be dropped to shake things up. Pakistan’s batsmen took full advantage of the average bowling and their fast and seem bowling attack was deadly, which does not bode well for England’s chances in the remaining test matches.
