It’s semi-final’s week at the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia and what a time to be an England fan with the Three Lions playing Croatia in Moscow tonight for what might prove to be a once in a life-time chance for this group of players to face France in Sunday’s final. France overcame the challenge of the tournaments best attacking outfit Belgium last night by keeping De Bruyne and Lukaku quite for most of the game and on the back of a solid defensive performance it was fitting centre back Umtiti scored the only goal from a set piece.
England will hope to emulate, if not better, France’s performance, their performance against Sweden and reach only their second World Cup final, the first of course being the infamous 1966 one which we went on to win. Since Croatia have played to back-to-back extra-time and penalties to reach this stage I am less concerned about their ability to match England physically over ninety or one hundred and twenty minutes. England will still need to be very wary of Croatia’s world class midfield of Modric and Racitic but if they can keep them quiet and in check and get at their back four with pace and set pieces I’m quietly confident well will come through this one in normal time 2-0 or 2-1.
