The 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia came to an end yesterday and France (advised 13/2) emerged victorious beating a heroic Croatia 4-2 in yesterday's final. Croatia did their best to disrupt France's counter-attacking game and with player of the tournament Modric pulling the strings in midfield, they dominated possession in the first half. However, with France's star forwards Mmbappe, Pogba and Griezmann in the side, they always had the upper-hand upfront, which proved to be the difference between the two teams.
Griezmann scored from a first-half penalty, which gave France a 2-1 lead at half-time, Pogba made it 3-1 fifteen minutes into the second half and young player of the tournament Mmbappe netted the fourth. It's safe to say the tournament was a huge success on so many levels and the whole experience is usually enhanced when the home nation and your own do well in the tournament. This was certainly the case with Russia and England, who exceeded all expectations reaching the semi-finals and they both came within touching distance of reaching the final.
