At the time of writing the quarter finals were due to be played at the ATP 250 Winston Salem hard court event in the USA and apart from veteran and eighth seed Johnson the remaining players are all from the younger or NextGen generation, which is good to see. Second seed Carreno-Busta was due to face sixth seed Chung for the first time and the winner could face British number one and third seed Edmunds, if he defeated Johnson who he had beaten twice before.

The other two quarter finals due to be played last night or early this morning was between the unseeded Medvedev and Harrison, who have both transitioned to hard courts well and have been in good form of late. The American won their only previous encounter and on home soil I expect him to win again and finally the in form fourteenth seed Jarry from Chile faces Daniel’s from Japan and I expect Jarry might just edge this one as he looks like a potential future top-20 star to me and has all the weapons to achieve this.

Selections:

None.
