I came agonisingly close to predicting Thiem beating Nadal earlier this morning but unfortunately, he lost on a fifth set tie break, but you could have cashed out/traded a profit when Thiem went 2-1 up. Cilic was too strong for Goffin who was still carrying a right shoulder/arm injury and didn’t have the power to hurt the Croatian. Nadal will now face Del Potro in the semi-finals and Nadal will get the chance to win a third US Open title and Del Potro a second.
No joy on the tournament tipping front as Isner beat Raonic in the fourth round in five sets on Monday and Del Potro beat Isner in their quarter final match 3-1 last night, but we do have Cilic (20/1) still in with a shout and he faces Nishikori tonight for a place in the semi-finals against either Djokovic or the shock of the tournament so far Aussie John Millman who shocked the world by ruining Federer’s chances of winning a sixth US Open title last night in four sets.
