This weeks ATP Tour tennis action over in Asia at Beijing, China and Tokyo, Japan is just starting to warm up nicely now the first round matches are completed. The biggest upsets so far were at Tokyo and the highest profile player to lose was top-seed Cilic at Tokyo on a third set tie-break against the hard working journeyman Struff from Germany, fourth seed Schwartzman found the in-form young Russian Medvedev too good losing in straight set and seventh seed Chung lost the battle of the NextGen against Shapovalov in three sets.

There’s a host of potentially high quality matches at Tokyo this morning between the in form Wawrinka and NextGen star Shapovalov, third seed Nishikori against the unseeded Paire and the match between two in form qualifiers Medvedev and Klizan.

At Beijing seventh seed Coric and sixth seed Sock where the highest profile players to lose in the first round. By the time you read this article the second round should be underway and there’s some potential high quality matches between big hitters and top-seed Del Potro and Khachanov, British number one and fifth seed against the talented young Italian Berrettini, third seed Dimitrov against talented qualifier Lajovic and two unseeded players Basilashvili, who has been in hot form this summer, against Murray’s conqueror veteran Verdasco from Spain.
