Bedrock’s stunning victory over Samcro who had been regarded as the second coming in Ireland.

I received hundreds of text and e-mail congratulations yesterday which arrived after my flight to Tenerife had landed.

I said yesterday that I did not know whether to laugh or cry after completing his Sale - I do now!

Seriously though my job is to form and manage racing syndicates - the sale meant that his owners - who took little interest in the horse - got a return of around 500 per cent on their investment if they followed my betting instructions.

Bedrock will always be my horse - I bought him - I planned his development - I moved him away from a leading trainer who was not getting the best out of him to Iain Jardine - it was my idea to target races in Ireland and finally and most importantly it was my idea to put Rachel Blackmore up.

I have achieved similar or better returns several times in the past with Hasty Prince, Overstrand, Treaty Flyer and Bagan.

What has been hugely dissappointing for me is that my client database of some 200 expert bettors Or investors have not had the intelligence or loyalty to invest with me in Bloodstock. In November 2016 only 4 clients invested and if it had not been for one of them, Paul, taking 2 shares - I would not have been able to buy Bedrock.

Paul has received his reward - for the rest of you it is a case of what might have been.

Despite Bedrock, Things do not appear to have changed - I was only able to attract five investors for the Newmarket Sales this week. Sad but true.

You have one more chance - I have been approached by 2 Bloodstock agents who want me to buy for them at the 2019 Newmarket Sales. I would far rather buy for YOU but unless I am pledged £250k ( no need to pay till next September) I will be working with them.
