The 2018 ATP Tour finals at the O2 in London is almost down to the semi-final knockout stage and the winner of the Kuerten and Hewitt groups Djokovic and Federer will face Zverev or Cilic and Anderson respectively tomorrow. World number one and top seed Djokovic was the first to qualify from the Kuerten Group and the semi-finals after winning both his group matches in straight sets. After Federer swept aside Anderson last night in straight sets and secured the group winner accolade, it meant Anderson finishes runner-up and Thiem and Nishikori became the first players to be knocked out of the tournament.

The Kuerten Group runner up spot will be decided today and it’s between Zverev and Cilic, who both won and lost one match so far this week. Zverev faces Isner today and potentially has a slight advantage of qualifying ahead of Isner, as he leads the head-to-head 4-1 against the American, who has nothing little left to play for except pride. Cilic faces Djokovic in their final Group stage match for the nineteenth time and the omens don’t look good for the Croatian number one, as he trails the head-to-head 16-2.

The only glimmer of hope Cilic has of qualifying as group runner up today is if Zverev loses against Isner and he beats Djokovic, or if Zverev and Cilic lose they would both be level on matches won and lost and the decision of the runner up spot would be decided by both players count back record in terms of sets and games won and lost. On paper and current form another ATP Tour Final looks on the card for five time winner Djokovic, who should be too good for Anderson, as he leads the head-to-head 6-1. Federer won’t be fussed whether he faces Zverev or Cilic as he’s starting to play like his old self again after a slow start and leads the head-to-head against both players, 3-2 against Zverev and 9-1 against Cilic.
