A great night in the Champions League for Liverpool and Spurs last night as both teams gained the results required to qualify for the knockout stage which commences in 2019. Spurs impressed at the Nou Camp and a 1-1 draw was enough to see them qualify second in their group behind Barcelona after Inter and PSV drew 1-1 at the San Siro. Liverpool just scraped through and qualified from their group behind PSG after they beat Napoli 1-0. The win left both teams second on nine points and Liverpool were the fortunate ones qualifying with a marginally better overall group record.
The final group stage of Champions League matches will be completed tonight and there’s no such stress for the English teams involved tonight as Manchester City and United have both already qualified for the knockout stages. Man City face bottom of their group Hoffenheim at the Etihad and United travel to Spain to play Valencia who are already out and will play in the Europa League next season.
