EFL League Two side Newport County continued their dream FA Cup run by knocking out EFL Championship top-six side Middlesbrough 2-0 in last night’s replay at the Newport Stadium. Wolves from the Premier League had to fight hard to see of a resilient EFL League One Shrewsbury in last night’s entertaining FA Cup replay at Molineux, which ended 3-2 and 5-4 on aggregate. EFL Championship sides Brentford and QPR also won their FA Cup replay’s and progressed to the fifth round at home last night against non-league Barnet 3-1 and EFL League One’s Portsmouth 2-0 respectively.
The domestic football action continues tonight with one Premier League game between Everton and Manchester City at Goodison Park and the remaining FA Cup fourth round replay between West Brom from the EFL Championship and Brighton from the Premier League. Tonight’s Premier League game is a crucial one in terms of the title race as City are now only three points behind leaders Liverpool, who cracked under the pressure again on Monday night when they only managed a point at mid-table West Ham.
The Baggies will attempt to continue their good record in the FA Cup against Brighton at the Hawthorns tonight having reached the fifth round or better a few times in recent seasons. This will be a tough night for Brighton as they failed to capitalise on home advantage in the first leg and overall, they win far less games on the road than they do at home. If you are looking for a betting angle on this match, I suggest keeping it simple and backing West Brom to win and/or if you are searching for a better return West Brom Win & BTTS Match Double.
