The FA Cup is back this weekend and it’s the fifth round stage. There are seven games over the weekend, three on Saturday and Sunday and one on Monday night. The action starts this evening between QPR and Watford at Loftus Road and QPR have reached this stage for the first time in over 20 years. QPR Manager Steve McClaren will aim to continue his teams dream run in the competition and raise his stock as a manager after years of failures and disappointments. However, the Hornets are having a great season under new manager Garcia, who has already masterminded numerous impressive wins so far this season, and the Hoops will have their work cut out to beat their Premier League opposition over two legs.
There are three games on Saturday starting with the live lunch-time kick-off between Premier League Brighton and Derby at the Amex Stadium. Brighton have been struggling of late and are winless in their last seven fixtures in normal time and haven’t won at home since beating Everton 1-0 in the league back in December. They failed to beat West Brom over two legs in normal time in the last round and based on this form they are worth opposing on the exchanges or by backing Derby on the Handicap. Goals are likely to be at a premium as well and if you’re searching for a higher return you could consider backing the Draw and Under 3.5 Goals Match Double result.
The other two games on Saturday involve two of the competition’s giant killers, AFC Wimbledon who are rock bottom in League One and Newport County who sit mid-table in League Two. AFC Wimbledon have the best chance of continuing their dream run on paper as they face Millwall from the Championship in a London Derby at home, while Newport face the unenviable task of Premier League champions Manchester City at the Newport Stadium.
