Wonder Strike from Sane gives City unlikely last 16 victory at Schalke.

Half way through the second half in Gelsenkirken last night, Manchester City looked to be staring defeat in the face.

2-1 down and reduced to ten men following the dismissal of Otamendi, it looked to be a move too late when Guardiola brought on Sane who had played for Schalke for 5 years( reallypuzzling that he was not in the starting line up)

Then with almost his first touch, Sane lashed in a 30 yard free kick to level the match and silence the home support. Five minutes later it was all over when Sterling scored the winner with another brilliant individual goal.

City are almost certainly through to the last 8 now but Pep can count himself fortunate.

In the other match Atletico did what they are famous for when they ground down Juventus 2-0. City will be hoping they don’t meet either of these teams in the next round.
