Chris Sobey

On the tennis front the ever young Roger Federer continued his remarkable career by winning Dubai for a record eight time and the achievement was made even more remarkable as it was also his 100 ATP Tour career title.

Selections:

The bad boy of men’s Aussie Kick Kyrgios tennis finally came good again last week has be battled like a true champion should, especially through some highly stressful moments, to win his fifth ATP Tour title and first an ATP 500 level. The biggest surprise was the manner of his straight forward 6-3 6-4 win against second seed and world number three Sascha Zverev who is looking like a shadow of the player that burst on to the pro scene in 2017 and 218.

Finally, at the Rio de Janeiro ATP 500 clay court event it was fifth time lucky for world number 48 Pella from Argentina who beat the unseeded Garin from Chile 7-5 6-3 to land his first career ATOP Tour title at the age of 28.

I’ll be back on Thursday when the ATP Tour seasons first Masters 1000 Series events take place at Indian Wells and Miami.
