Arsenal and Chelsea both played the first legs of the Europa League semi-finals last night and Arsenal have one foot in the final after a convincing 3-1 win at the Emirates while Chelsea also have a good chance of making it an all English final after managing a 1-1 draw away at Frankfurt.
It’s a big week of domestic Premier League and EFL football action this weekend with two more games remaining in the Premier League this and the final day of this season next weekend and it’s the last weekend for the EFL with the promotion and relegation battles adding extra excitement and pressure.
The action kicks off tonight with one Premier League game between two in-form teams Everton and Burnley at Goodison. Neither team has much to play for apart from potentially improving their league positions and pride and from a betting perspective I think Everton may just have the edge here on recent form and you may want to consider backing Everton and/or if you’re searching for a higher return BTTS & Over 3.5 goals as six of Burnley’s last ten away games would have landed this bet.
On Saturday the live lunchtime kick-off is between Bournemouth and Spurs at the Vitality stadium and it’s a tough result to call with Bournemouth out of form and Spurs hectic schedule and mounting injury problems to their star players. In the past Spurs have dominated this corresponding fixture winning two of the last three and drawing the other.
There’s two 3pm kick-offs between mid-table West Ham and fifth from bottom Southampton who are now safe from relegation at the London stadium and Wolves and already relegated Fulham at Molineux. From a betting perspective I think backing Over 2.5 Goals is a safe bet for the West Ham game with and/or if you’re looking for a higher return you can consider backing West Ham Win & Over 2.5 match double. There’s also a huge game for Cardiff in terms of their relegation survival against Crystal Palace at the Cardiff City stadium at 5.30pm and it’s a must win game for the Bluebirds who are four points behind Brighton with two games remaining.
They should produce a more inspiring performance at home than they did losing against Fulham 1-0 last time out but the pressure on the home players to win will be immense and with Palace’s impressive away form this season and no pressure on them I don’t see Cardiff beating them. From a betting perspective backing Palace is worth considering and/or if you’re looking for a higher return backing Palace Win & Under 3.5 Goals match double.
The final Premier League game of the day is a late kick-off at 19.45 between Newcastle and Liverpool at St James’s Park and this could be a really tough test for the reds and it could also blow their title hopes if they struggle to respond after their comprehensive defeat at Barcelona in the Champions League semi-finals first leg mid-week.
The final set of EFL League One and Two matches are also being played today and the final Championship games are being played tomorrow. In League One Luton and Barnsley are confirmed promoted to the Championship and its just a case of deciding who will be crowned champions today. The final play-off spot is up for grabs and is between Doncaster on 70 points and Peterborough on 69 points. The relegation battle will be a real nerve jangler with four teams Scunthorpe, Walsall, Plymouth and Southend with only a point separating the four teams.
Finally, in League Two Lincoln have already been confirmed as Champions, there’s a three-way play-off for the remaining two automatic promotion places between Bury, Mansfield and MK Dons and there’s a high pressure battle on for the final play-off spot as well. Yeovil are already relegated but there’s two teams Notts County and Macclesfield still battling it out for the final relegation spot, Macclesfield have the advantage of a two-point lead but if Notts County win and Macclesfield lose County will stay up.
