It’s quarter finals day at the Madrid Masters 1000 Series and there’s a feast of potential top class action ahead with a perfect mix of the the big three and the best of the NextGen lining up for a place in tomorrow’s semi-finals. The remaining players are top-seed Djokovic, second seed Nadal, defending champion and third seed Sascha Zverev, fourth seed Federer, fifth seed Thiem, (advised 6/1), eighth seed Tsitsipas, ninth seed Cilic and former top ten star and multiple Slam winner Wawrinka the only unseeded player left in the draw.
Djokovic faces Cilic for the eighteenth time, the top-seed leads the head-to-head 17-2 and I expect that to be 18-2 after today’s encounter with Djokovic cruising to a straight sets win. Federer faces Thiem for the sixth time, Thiem the NextGen star leads the head-to-head 3-2 and after Federer’s remarkable three set marathon thriller against Monfils who was a break up in the third set last night I think Thiem should take this one as he’s fresher and his big hitting aggressive game is very difficult to beat at the Madrid altitude.
There’s a facsanating match up between two of the best NexGen stars Zverev and Tsitsipas, the head-to-head is 1-1 with both winning against each other on hard courts and today’s encounter should be a real battle and classic.,In the remaining quarter final Nadal takes on Wawrinka for the twenty first time and both have impressed reaching this stage winning both their matches against top players in straight sets.
There’s nothing I strongly fancy from a betting perspective but I you’re looking for a bet ot two I do think the Zverev against Tsitsipas match will be close and backing Over 22.5 Games should return a fairly stress free profit and/or if you’re looking for a higher return backing Tsitsipas Win & Over 22.5 games match double has every chance of landing (price tbc).
