The men’s 2019 French Open at Roland Garros is now down to the third-round stage and the in terms of the ATP rankings the world’s best ten players the top ten seeds at this year’s Roland Garros are still standing. The top two three seeds Djokovic, Nadal and Federer not surprisingly have impressed the most reaching this stage having not dropped a set yet. The next three seeds four, five and six Thiem, Zverev and Tsitsipas are hot on their heels as ever but they’ve struggled at times this week all dropping sets to much lower ranked players.
The likes of seventh seed Nishikori, eighth seed Del Potro, ninth seed Fognini and tenth seed Khachanov’s have all had to fight hard to reach this stage as well dropping sets too much lower ranked opponents as well. There’s seven other seeded players still standing as well which include thirteenth seed Coric, fourteenth seed Monfils who continues to be the entertainer as ever but has also impressed not dropping a set this week and eighteenth seed Bautista Agut who has impressed this week not dropping a set but faces a tough task next against ninth seed and recent Masters 1000 winner at Monte Carlo Fognini.
Twenty fourth seed and former French Open winner Wawrinka is still standing and has to be classed as a dangerous floater having won here before from off the radar and twenty seventh seed Goffin has impressed this week not dropping a set but is unlucky as he faces Nadal next. Thirtieth seed Lajovic who is yet to drop a set faces fifth seed Zverev who he knocked out last year in what should be another hard fought close match and thirty first seed Djere who has impressed not dropping a set faces an uphill task next up against seventh seed Nishikori but it’s far from a gimme for the super star Japanese star as clay’s not his best surface.
Hat’s off to the likes of qualifier Caruso from Italy who is the only qualifier still standing and NextGen French Wild Cards Hoang and Moutet who are both ranked outside the top-100 but both have impressed this week and will be both living the dream at this moment.
