Round two action at this week’s ATP Tour three tennis tournaments over in Bastad, Umag and Newport get underway today. The top four seeds at each tournament also join the action today and while there were no major first round upsets there were a handful of higher seeds who crashed out on Monday and Tuesday. At Bastad, just seventh seed NextGen Norwegian star Rudd lost against the talented but out of form Dzumhur, at Umag, fifth seed Cecchinato and seventh seed Klizan crashed out in the first round against Bedene and Bagnis respectively and at Newport on the grass fifth seed Johnson (advised @ 8/1), sixth seed Karlovic and eighth seed Klahn all lost their first round matches against Eubanks, Andreozzi and Klahn respectively.
Half of the eight first round matches are due to be played today at Bastad and Umag while all eight second round matches will be contested today at Newport. Sixth seed Serb Krajinovic faces Hungarian qualifier Balazs for the third time today and Krajinovic leads the head-to-head 2-1 and eighth seed Mayer will aim to reach the quarter finals by beating the unseeded Vesely (advised @ 33/1) and Mayer is the hot favourite to progress as he leads the head-to-head 6-1.
Finally, at Newport top seed and three time Newport champion Isner joins the action today and he faces the talented 23 year-old Majchrazk from Poland, second seed Mannarino also starts his campaign today against American Sandgren (advised @ 18/1) and Mannarino leads the head-to-head 1-0 and third seed Aussie Thompson opens his campaign against unseeded Spanish veteran Granollers and Thompson leads the head-to-head 1-0.
