The Sixth Masters 1000 Series tournament of the season the Rogers Cup in Montreal is now well underway and today will see the completion of the second round action after third seed Zverev (advised @ 10/1) and thirteenth seed Basilashvili kicked off proceedings in the early hours of this morning defeating the unseeded British number three Cam Norrie and unseeded German Struff respectively. Top seed and defending champion Rafa Nadal will thrill fans tonight when he kicks off his defence against British number two Dan Evans who will face each other for the first time.
Second seed Thiem will aim to back up his Gstaad title win last week with a good run in Montreal this week and he faces home hope Shapovalov (advised @ 66/1) tonight for the second time and the young Canadian will aim to gain revenge for his straight-sets defeat at Acapulco back in 2018. 2018 finalist and fourth seed this year Tsitsipas will aim to continue his good form at the Rogers Cup tonight against the unseeded giant Hurkacz from Poland and if past meetings are a good guide it should be a straight forward win for the young Greek star as he leads the head-to-head 3-0, which were in 2018 and twice this season, all on hard courts.
Fifth seed Nishikori and sixth seed Khachanov both join the action tonight and face potentially tricky openers against the unseeded veterans Gasquet and Wawrinka respectively. Gasquet should be quietly confident of causing the upset as he leads the head-to-head 7-3 and 5-1 on hard courts, as should Wawrinka as he leads the head-to-head 2-0, which were both on hard courts. Eighth seed Washington finalist Medvedev will aim to continue his winning form tonight against the unseeded British number two Kyle Edmunds and Edmunds will hope to extend his winning head-to-head record against Medvedev to 3-0 tonight. Finally, tenth seed Bautista Agut and the unseeded, in form Los Cabos winner Schwartzman face-off tonight and they will both aim to continue their winning starts to the tournament with another win tonight.
