Big shocks at the US Open last night as top ten stars like fourth seed Thiem, eighth seed Tsitsipas, ninth seed Khachanov, tenth seed Bautista Agut, eighteenth seed Auger Alisiamme and thirtieth seed Edmunds all crashed out in the first round. There was no such drama for the big three Djokovic, Nadal and Federer who all progressed to the second round, but Federer did look vulnerable at times against Indian qualifier Nagal dropping the first set and I don’t see him making the final this year.

The second round action commences this afternoon and there’s plenty of top-class action on the menu with the likes of top-seed and defending champion Djokovic against Londero from Argentina, third seed Federer against Dzumhur, fifth seed Medvedev (advised @ 14/1) against Columbian Dellien, seventh seed and former finalist Nishikori against American Klahn, twelfth seed Coric against Dimitrov, fifteenth seed Goffin against French qualifier Barrere and twenty-fifth seed Pouille against Britain’s Dan Evans to name a few.

There ARE tennis tips today.
