A disappointing start for English teams in the Champions League last night as reigning champions Liverpool were upset by Napoli again losing 2-0 in Naples and Chelsea failed to score for the first time this season going down 0-1 against Valencia at Stamford Bridge. The pressure was further heaped on the Reds and Blues as the other two teams in their respective groups Salzburg and Ajax both won last night against Genk 6-2 and Lille 3-0 respectively.

Spurs and Manchester City kick off their Champions League campaigns tonight against Olympiacos in Greece at the Georgios Karaiskakis Stadium in Piraeus, Greece and OSC Metalist stadium in Kharkiv, Ukraine respectively. Spurs face Olympiakos for the first time and are favourites to collect all three points while City face Shakhtar for the fifth time and will hope to repeat last seasons 3-0 win in Piraeus. Leading European Cup winners with thirteen Real Madrid, kick off their campaign with a trip to the French capital Paris for the second season in a row to face PSG and will hope for a repeat of last season’s 2-1 win.

The other big Champions League game of the night is a clash between Spain and Italy as Atletico Madrid take on European giants Juventus at the Wanda Metropolitano in Madrid and the Spanish outfit will be quietly confident of kicking their campaign off with a win as they’ve beaten Juventus in the last three Champions League encounters at the Wanda Metropolitano.
