The eagerly anticipated 2019 Rugby World Cup in Japan gets underway today and it looks set to be an exciting and entertainment laden tournament that is arguably one of the most open in the modern era. Favourites the All Black’s will have their supporters as always and they will no doubt be still in contention come the latter stages, however, this is far from the best All Black’s team and any of the current big guns like Ireland, Wales, England, South Africa and Australia are capable of beating them at present.
South Africa come into this tournament in great form and must be respected. They are vying for second favouritism with England at present and of the two I’d have to side with South Africa as it’s a southern hemisphere tournament and I think England’s over-reliance on an intense physical style of play will catch up with them in the latter stages of the tournament. Wales are one of the best defensive teams in the world at present, they have the attacking talent and flair to beat any team on their day and as a result, I think they are good value to win the tournament at 12/1. Finally, France is in action tomorrow and look good value to kick off their campaign with a win against Argentina.
