The finale to the 2019 Rugby Union World Cup concludes this weekend; the third-place play-off is this morning at 9am between New Zealand and Wales and the main spectacle, the World Cup final, between England and South Africa tomorrow morning at 9am.
New Zealand will no doubt bounce back and put on a dominant performance against a jaded Wales, who never really got going at this tournament, compared to how they play at home. I expect both coaches will make changes in personnel by bringing in fresher squad players where possible and as a result I expect a free flowing, high scoring open game. If they’re in the starting line-up it’s worth considering backing in the Anytime Try-scorer market, New Zealand scrum-half Aaron Smith, as he’s deadly near the try-line as Ireland discovered to their peril in the quarter-finals and Wales winger Josh Adams looks like there main scoring threat from the backs at present, with George Ford out of form.
England look like a good thing to win a second World Cup against South Africa tomorrow morning, but they will need to be wary of the Springboks doing everything they can to slow the game down, turn it in to a scrap and war of attrition. As a result, I think the game will be very physical and at times bad tempered, low scoring with a fairly close score-line, which could result in a yellow or possibly even a red card and if the score-line is close, with few try scoring chances, then drop goals may start to come into the equation later in the game.
