A nice 18/1 winner last week although we had to sweat a bit in the play-off.
PGA Tour
Mayakoba Golf Classic Mexico
Defending champion Matt Kuchar is the bookmaker’s favourite to win again in Mexico, but this is a wide-open event and some decent players tee it up at Playa del Carmen. A lot will depend on the weather and several holes can be affected by the breezes from the ocean. As usual accuracy is rewarded as veering off into the trees and mangroves will be severely penalised. Mexican Abraham Ancer will have the support of the locals and past winner Pat Perez will look to improve on a couple of below par performances in recent weeks. Jason Day and Tony Finau are interesting starters as this a course they could both really take to.
European Tour
Nedbank Challenge Sun City South Africa
The European tour moves to South Africa and the famous Sun City course that saw Lee Westwood land the prize last year. The South African challenge will be strong with Louis Oosthuizen the favourite, and stars such as Branden Grace, George Coetzee and Erik Van Rooyen desperate to land this home prize. Past winners include Henrik Stenson, Martin Kaymer, Alex Noren and home favourite Ernie Els, although it would be a huge leap of faith to support the 50-year-old from Johannesburg.Golf
