It’s the final day of round robin group matches at the 2019 ATP Tour Finals in London, which will determine the Group A & B winners and runners up and thus tomorrows semi-finals line-up. Group A is currently headed by sixth seed Tsitsipas, who is the only player unbeaten so far in his group having defeated Zverev and Medvedev this week. The young Greek star faces top seed Nadal today for a chance to sow-up the Group A winner's honours, while Zverev faces Medvedev and the German still has a chance of qualifying for the semi-finals if he wins or loses today.
If Tsitsipas beats Nadal for the second time in seven matches today he will win Group A and the runner-up place will be between Nadal and Zverev based on their sets and games win/loss record. If Nadal wins and Zverev beats Medvedev there will be a three-way tie for the Group A winner and runners up places between Nadal, Tsitsipas and Zverev and the positions will be confirmed by who has the best sets and games win/loss ratio.
Third seed Roger Federer turned on the style in his final Group B round robin match last night against five-time ATP Tour Finals winner and second seed Djokovic, winning 6-4 6-3. The match was a straight forward shoot out for the Group B runners-up spot, for which the prize is a place in Saturdays semi-finals against the winner of Group A. Fifth seed and Group B winner Thiem will face the runner up from Group A in Saturday’s other semi-final.
